The Mars Exploration Rover (MER) mission has provided more visual images
in a short time than any previous NASA mission and these images and
mission results have captured the public attention and brought Mars to a
wide audience, as evidence by hits to the NASA Mars Exploration Rover
Mission website counted in the billions.
Northwestern University has partnered with the Adler Planetarium & Astronomy
Museum to bring these images to the public and to Northwestern
University students and faculty. What makes these images even more
compelling is that both Northwestern and the Adler Planetarium have
presenting the stereo images from the rovers in their Geowall
facilities, which allow people to perceive Mars in a new, realistic
3-dimensional way.
In this site, you can find out the background of this project, as well
as, access the 3D images we have produced so far. Note, these images
require a Geowall facility in order to display them. More information
on what a Geowall is can be found at http://www.geowall.org.
